THE BIRTHPLACE OF WINE
History has united Rioja Alavesa and wine to the extent that it is impossible to think of one without the other.
A unique geographical location, protected from the north by the Sierra de Cantabria and thriving on the fertile Ebro Valley to the south; a limestone soil that inputs all its character; a damp climate with just the right amount of sunshine and optimum year-round temperatures have all made Rioja Alavesa a region ideally suited for grape growing and winemaking.

WINES
EXPERIMENTAL AREA
IN LINE WITH THE CARACTER
An experimental winery in which to innovate and commercialize wines made with very unusual grape varieties, from old vines and with very low production levels. The whole process is aided by hand-picking the grapes in boxes, after which they are sorted on the selection table where those that do not meet our quality standards are rejected.
All this with the careful, highly selective work of the Meruelo Family.

MAN AND LAND
It is in our vineyars that man´s influence starts to become more noticeable. Meticulous planning and attention to our own vineyards, investing all the time necessary in laborious taks in the vineyards themselves and selecting the finest grapes from the top suppliers in Laguardia, Elvillar, Cripán and Lanciego.
The whole process leading up the harvest is focused on grape quality, making sure they acquire all the virtues and qualities that will later determine the personality of Lar de Paula and which, once in the bodega, will be highlighted in our wines in our wines in all their glory.
Lar de Paula SPACES
Heredad de Baroja, the Meruelo family’s first great project, lays the foundations to complete a cycle that forges a new natural bond with this quintessential winemaking territory.
