Harvest in Rioja Alavesa 2025: the essence of Lar de Paula beneath the watchful Sierra de Cantabria

In Elvillar, the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the harvest is much more than a date on the calendar: it is the culmination of a year of dedication, patience, and respect for the land.

Between mid-September and the first week of October, the vineyards of Lar de Paula came alive — filled with the aroma of ripe grapes and the gentle hum of those who understand the value of every cluster.

This 2025 harvest has been both generous and balanced: 230,000 kilograms of Tempranillo and 8,000 kilograms of Viura.

The hands that pick the grapes, those that carry them to the winery, and those that oversee every detail of the process share one purpose: to honor the land that gives us its fruit.

Inside the winery, our technical and maintenance teams ensured that every installation was ready to welcome the new harvest, allowing the work to flow with the precision of a well-tuned clock.

Meanwhile, in the quietest part of the process, our winemaking team closely follows the evolution of each must — observing, tasting, fine-tuning.

They nurture the birth of the wine as one would accompany the awakening of new life. The first tastings from the tanks, after the initial two weeks of fermentation, reveal what we already sensed in the vineyard:
vibrant, bright, and elegant colors in both reds and whites, with aromatic expression that promises balance and freshness.

At the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria — the natural wall that shelters our vines from the north and moderates the climate with ancient wisdom — the harvest becomes an act of harmony between nature and humankind.

The calcareous soils, cool mornings, and radiant afternoons of Elvillar, Laguardia, Cripán, and Lanciego create the perfect setting where every cluster tells its own story.

At Lar de Paula, the harvest is not an ending — it’s a beginning.
It is the moment when the land, the people, and time come together to shape what defines us most: wines with soul, born from respect and passion.
And once again, we can proudly say: With Lar de Paula, It Tastes Better.
